           SHOALHAVEN   LYDIAN   VIVACE   SINGERS

Formed in 2004 the Vivace Singers fill an important and immensely popular
niche in classical choral singing.  With the main Shoalhaven Lydian Singers
now numbering approximately forty members, it was realised that there was
a need for an accomplished small group to effectively perform works such as
Madrigals, A cappella numbers and Motets.
These particular works are not very suitable for large choirs  and require
singers with special voices and good sight reading ability, together with
           careful tonal balance and blend.
Other qualities required are flexibility of production, a good vocal line,
an ability to listen to other voices in the group to achieve a homogenous
sound, and importantly for sopranos and contraltos to have a pure
voice with no tremor.  Members of such a group are also required to do their
homework to keep up with others.
           Conductor Alan

Former Musical Director of the Lydians, Alan, gladly assumed the
conductorship of this small group. Certain voices were selected and
rehearsals are creating an exquisite and refined sound with a clarity of
diction and a range of dynamics  exciting to the listener.
The Vivace Singers  took first place in the Small Choirs Section of the 2004
Shoalhaven Eisteddfod, the adjudicator comments praising the group for
a lovely blend of tone with  an infectious, lively rhythm and pulse.

The Singers have performed at intimate recitals with acclamation.  They look
forward to performing at suitable venues where a high standard of choral
          singing is expected.
The group numbers twelve, with two first sopranos, three second sopranos,
two contraltos, three tenors and two basses, which projects a fine balance
          of tone.
